Kathryn is a cisgender, white woman from the east coast. Her 20 years of professional experience includes time as a designer, project manager, and executive leader in consulting environments before finding her sweet spot in consulting. She loves nothing more than solving complex organizational problems.Having spent many years working with, and for, organizations with flawed business models and archaic ways of working she’s become driven to help innovate and transform organizational systems for the future. She believes the best way to unlock innovation is by understanding the true needs of your customers, employees, and communities and is an expert in multi-stakeholder, collaborative design. Whether through stakeholder interviews, focus groups or workshop facilitation; Kathryn gains trust and confidence quickly by asking seemingly simple questions to unlock solutions. Katie is a Black woman from rural Oregon. Although her love of history led her to become a high school history teacher, it was Katie’s love of helping people that shifted her focus to Human Resources. Katie blends that love of history and passion for HR into creating informed, practical yet ambitions solutions for her clients. Katie cares deeply about understanding the “why” and “how” policies and practices were created, and even more about “who those policies best serve.” With over a decade and a half of working and leading Employee Experience teams, Katie knows how thorny and stressful HR problems can be. Because of that, she works with her clients to help find ways forward that retain and grow relationships, and recognizes the value of each employee.

Nina is a white queer woman from the south. Her passion for this work was sparked when she was sent out into the world alone as a very young person. She saw through first hand experience that the narratives of individualism, meritocracy, and color blindness that she had been raised on were harmful mythologies. As a community organizer she experienced the capacity and wisdom of marginalized communities to imagine and create innovative and equitable possibilities for the future. Through this work she also came to believe that how we work together as groups, and in organizations, is one of the most important “stages” upon which we can begin to shift how we show up together in the world. She has dedicated her professional career to the study and practice of guiding organizational change. Nina has a unique capacity to help her clients achieve their goals in a way that tends to the human experiences in the moment, transforming how teams work together. Nina gives teams language and process hacks that set high performing teams apart. Teams may not even realize how through practicing new habits over the course of a project, they will never be the same, even after Nina is gone.

Stephanie is a white, Jesuit-educated woman with roots in the Pacific Northwest. Stephanie began her career in the energy and banking sectors, where she saw firsthand how organizational structures and power dynamics can create dysfunctional cultures with perverse incentives. That experience drove her to pursue graduate studies in Organizational Strategy and immerse herself in the emerging disciplines of Human Centered Design and Visual Sensemaking. Since then, Stephanie has built a reputation as one of the earliest strategists to use the power of Human Centered Design to solve organizational challenges. Her work has helped organizations reimagine the way they do strategic planning, shift organizational culture, and reorganize to meet changing business needs. Clients love working with Stephanie because of her exceptional group facilitation, inclusive approach, and ability to design solutions that “move the needle” on seemingly intractable challenges. Stephanie brings her gift for lifting dimension and clarity out of complexity to clients as well as students in programs including University of Oregon exec MBA and Stanford d.school.

Ryan is a white, cisgender man with roots in Oregon. He was inspired early in his graphic design career by initiatives that showed not only how design could be used to amplify positive things being done in the world, but could drive change. Fueled by the idea that everything is open to being rethought, and the potential for design as a tool to lead change efforts, Ryan has focused on initiatives for sustainability and especially on those that build more equitable and responsible environments. Ryan applies agency experience as well as deep knowledge working with large and small organizations to create and develop brands and communication strategies. He strives to avoid being “precious” about design, but instead fosters an open and co-creative relationship with partners and clients. He brings curiosity and joy to projects through a design practice coupled with a love of science that has taught him to embrace experimentation, user testing, and challenging assumptions. By bringing in other illustrators, designers, writers, and programmers with expertise and backgrounds that supplement his own, he consciously pushes design to foster better understanding, equity, accessibility, and relevance to a broader range of people. Ryan regularly leads workshops teaching visual thinking techniques to mixed teams of creatives, college students, and business professionals.
